By Karina Paro On December 6th I went to the Winter Wonderland dance. It was a wonderful and fun experience. I saw a bunch of people I knew there, and even some teachers! I don’t usually like to “put myself out there” but my friends pulled me out to the dance floor, and it wasn’t that bad. The food was good and so was the music. The DJ tried to get everyone excited and participate in dances and activities. It was a great way to get my mind off of my worries and stress. I bonded with some new people as well. The music was loud and the room smelt like popcorn and hot chocolate. People were either wearing nice fancy clothes, or their everyday school clothes. There weren't a whole lot of people, but there were enough for a great time. If you went I hope you had a great time, and if you didn’t go, I hope you get to go next time.

We had our first 2018 Sports Fest event here at JMS. There were many different jumpers and clubs were selling food like the all time favorite Kona Ice and Dippin Dots. Teachers were there and helped out so that no panther would get hurt on this amazing day. The jumpers were so much fun. One of the jumpers was an obstacle course and it was fun to race your friend. Something that added an extra pop of fun was having music in the background while everyone was having a good time. As I saw some people getting Kona Ice and Dippin Dots I asked Samantha Villarreal what she thought about this event and she said, “I like the jumpers and how there's food!¨. Someone else told me, “I liked how there was so much excitement!” As you can see this year's sports fest was a blast! Go Panther Pride Day and thank you to all the teachers who helped make this day a success.
By Donovan Ralls and Noah Ortuno The Black Death, or also known as the great plague, was one of the most devastating disasters that could ever happen in history. The number of deaths it is accounted for is around 75 to 200 million people from around 1347 to 1351 peaking in Eurasia to Europe. In October 2018, a professor named Peter Frankopan warned people of a disease that could be reawakened because of global warming. The professor stated that if the earth's temperature rises above 1.5℃, permafrost in the arctic will melt and could unleash deadly bacteria that has been buried for a millenia. Peter warned there was absolutely no chance of keeping global temperature rises under 1.5℃. By Karina Paro Librarian, Ms. Veihmann has received Employee of the Year award. By Nicole Albarran Did you know that Operation Christmas Child gives shoeboxes filled with toys and accessories to less fortunate children? Well they do, they give these shoeboxes to children affected by natural disasters, war, poverty, famine and diseases. This program occurs throughout the year, however there are more drop off places during November. It was created by Dave and Jill Cooke in the United Kingdom in 1990. After three years, their program joined a partnership with Samaritan’s Purse. In that same year they managed to give 28,000 children shoeboxes filled with needed items with the help of Samaritan’s Purse. Since then, their program Operation Christmas Child has been able to deliver shoeboxes to over 146 million children in 100 countries. By Ryan Lujan and Antonio Juarez When Mario Kart first came out it came out on the Nintendo 64 in 1996. When the game came out all you could do is drift and hit the gas to drive. You could get power ups to get an advantage in winning. There would be three laps and who ever finish first wins. Then you would play three more tracks to see who won it all. In the new games like the ones on the Nintendo Switch they added new power ups and people. On Mario Kart 8 the game we play now, you can customize your own car and make it faster. If you win most races in first place you can unlock new things for your car and the graphics are better than the Nintendo 64.
By Joe Roa Parents should let their children play football. Football can help children confidently and choose wisely. Football can help with social skills. Football can help keep children out of trouble. It will keep kids in a safe controlled environment. Also, it can help make friends. Playing football will help develop team chemistry and a sense of brotherhood that will last a lifetime. Another reason is that it helps with confidence. When it says confidence it doesn't mean winning at all cost it's all effort.
