by Karina Paro Sometimes we insult people without realizing it. Weird, anorexic, nerd, stupid, fake, annoying etc... we have all called people these things or have been called these bitter words. But have you ever thought about what the victim is truly thinking but instead of just laugh it off? Have you ever been labeled these things and carrying it with you everywhere you go? You may think it’s one word, but it also may be one more word out of a dozen a day.

by Adrian Romero Some of you may think it isn’t important to bring your supplies to school like your Chromebooks, pencils, pens Etc. However, you still need to bring them. You need to bring them every day or you may drop your class grade and if you drop your grade, you’re getting close to an F and if you get an F you fail, and if you fail you may not be eligible for class activities or good guys activities. Some students think school is only for hanging out with friends, but school is for learning and 1.2 million students fail school each year!!! So you need to make sure you check your binder and backpack to make sure that you have everything you need for school. by Alexa Hernandez and Alekza Escobar Mr. Shaffer is a great history teacher. Students love him for his funny and energetic personality. He was born in San Diego and was raised in Hemet, California. For 15 years Mr. Shaffer has been working at Jurupa Middle School! Before working as a teacher he was a bartender and a food server. At first Mr. Shaffer thought he was going to be a youth pastor, or an insurance agent, a policeman, a firefighter or a psychologist. Mr. Shaffer explained why he loves history, and he said, “I love history. I love working with kids. I don’t know why! My favorite thing about teaching is when kids finally get it.” Mr. Shaffer's favorite subject in school was history. Can you believe he was a nerd? Some interesting facts about Mr. Shaffer is that he played basketball and cross country. Mr. Shaffer's favorite color is gray like his beard. He has 2 cats, 4 dogs and a sister who lives in Los Angeles. Overall Mr. Shaffer is a great history teacher with an amazing personality. Alekza and I both think that Mr. Shaffer teaches in a very interesting way and we both love his personality. by Ryan Lujan and Antonio Juarez Hey, have you ever noticed everyone has the same shoe on? Checkerboard vans or the same color? One reason why people like them is because they are in style and want to be cool. Another reason why people like them is they are really comfortable. One reason why people don’t like them is that too many people have them, and they are too common. Some people don’t like the shoe because they are pricey, they range from 60 to 70 dollars. Most people buy the same common color like red and black. Why would people wear shoes that look like a checkerboard? Are they going to play chess or something? by Madison Garcia Have you ever heard of a rainbow bagel? Rainbow bagels are delicious treats that come in various different colors on one, resembling a rainbow! Rainbow bagels originated in Brooklyn, New York. Scot Rossillo is the creator of this magnificent looking bagel, and has been honoring the recipe for 20 years at his bakery called “The Bagel Store”. These bagels aren’t just ordinary bagels, they also have another unique feature to them, not only are they Rainbow but they also use a special type of cream cheese called “Funfetti cream cheese”, Yeah that’s right the cream cheese is completely made of Funfetti cake mix! The bagels resemble the taste of a fruity blueberry flavor. Some people even say that the eating this bagel is like eating cake for breakfast, and who doesn’t want that? I heard that you can even choose a custom colored bagel to enjoy for yourself. by Isabella Alvarez and Marissa Heller Have you ever wondered what was popular in the 80’s? Well we went around the school and asked some teachers what they used. Before asking them what they used in the 80’s we did some research and saw what most people used in the 80’s. Which was the following: Fanny Packs, Slap Bracelets, Shoulder pads, and Puffy Hair. We asked Mrs. Hill what she used and she said that she used shoulder pads because it was the style that everyone was using. Then she told us that she did use puffy hair and had pictures of her having puffy hair. by Karina Paro Our planet is dying by the minute, but not many people realize it. Pollution effects our air. Litter makes the area dirtier and may cause diseases. Fires make everything covered in ash, it also makes the temperature rise. There are many other reasons why our planet may not be good in a couple of decades, or maybe even years. We need to start saving our only home. by Nicole Albarran To begin with it is terrible to torture all kinds of animals, did you know that every year over 115 million animals are abused. A few reasons that it is bad to kill animals are that they can help people, and you can train them to help in different fields such as with firefighters, soldiers or the police. They will be able to help people by helping them cross streets,or to keep disabled kids company. A way people are torturing the animals is by doing experiments on them, to create new makeup equipment. To continue some ways you can prevent animal torture is to report it, volunteer in a shelter and make donations to shelters. by Karina Paro Hello Jurupa Panthers! We recently did a door decorating contest for red ribbon week. Mr. Hernandez and Ms.Connell, along with some ASB students came door to door to see our fantastic posters. The posters had to be both drug and Halloween related. Everyone’s posters were creative and stunning. There was also a pumpkin contest. The pumpkins were also Halloween related. My personal favorite was AVID’s venom pumpkin. You were able to vote during lunch on October 31st. AVID’s venom pumpkin won the contest, CONGRATULATIONS! This contest was very fun to participate in, and to see all of your amazing creations. |
